The Asia Pacific Mathematical Olympiad for Primary Schools (APMOPS), organised by Hwa Chong Institution, is an annual event that main objective of the competition is to generate greater interest in Mathematics among pupils in primary schools and sharpen their problem-solving skills. The First Round competition will be held at various centres across the Asia-Pacific region. The competition for Singapore schools, known as the Singapore Mathematical Olympiad for Primary Schools (SMOPS) will be held at Hwa Chong Institution. The First Round (SMOPS) is usually held in April and the Invitation Round (APMOPS) in end-May or early June, on a Saturday.
The invitation round, known as APMOPS, will be held at Hwa Chong Institution, Singapore. This year’s overseas centers include:
- China: Shanghai, Hainan
- Hong Kong
- Indonesia: Jakarta, Surabaya, Medan
- Malaysia: Johor, Kuala Lumpur, Selangor (Petaling Jaya), Penang, Perak (Ipoh), Kedah, Sarawak
- New Zealand
- South Korea
